What does it mean to be a Retail Client?

UK regulatory requirements require us to categorise all investors as either a Professional Client or a Retail Client (each as defined in the FCA Rules in COBS 3, a link to which appears here).  We inform investors of their categorisation in the email sent (from October 1st 2014) when the investor signs up.  Each category attracts a different level of investor protection, with Retail receiving the greatest protection.  Our investors are classified on the basis of their expertise, experience and knowledge and ultimately their ability to understand the risks involved in their investments.

If you are categorised as a Professional Client, you have the right to request that we categorise you as a Retail Client either generally or in specific circumstances.
